Wow, its only a few times a year that a fight has me on the edge of my seat like the main event. I was just so impressed by Izzy. Going in I didn't think I was really rooting for either side and didn't bet either side, but while watching it I realized that I really wanted Izzy to win. Before the fight I couldn't decide how it would play out. Were they both going to fight as they did in the last fight? Pereira looking for that one shot? Was Izzy going to outstrike him and this time manage to avoid getting hit? Were either of them going to try to wrestle? Was Pereira going to go in and pressure more aggressively as he did in the last round of the last fight and catch him even earlier? Something about the way Izzy was talking made me think that he was going to really look for the finish and he had some kind of plan. I just couldn't figure out what it was. And it never occurred to me that his plan would be to "play possum", get Pereira to open up and start swinging wild and then counter. I don't think I've heard of or seen a fighter with that game plan before. He shelled up against the fence when he wasn't even really hurt but acted hurt and overwhelmed. Then he executed it so beautifully and surgically. This was a special fight. Especially with the history between the 2, it was special to watch.
Betting wise, slightly negative night - 0.65 UNIT - 4% ROI. There were a couple bad reads. Honestly I didn't like Yanez in the past. I didn't like the way he got outstruck by Costa in round 1 of their fight. Font was a big step up in competition. But as the week went on I think I became influenced by listening to other people's breakdowns. I ended up switching and thinking Yanez was going to land more power than Font. BAD READ. Nurdiembeke and Rosas - BAD READS as well. The 2 highest confidence bets were Holland and Burns and they came through at least. I became unconfident listening a little too much to other opinions so really didn't bet much on them. But they were very dominant performances. This week I shouldn't have let other influence me so much.
