UFC 282: Błachowicz vs. Ankalaev Picks

Too busy to look through every fight this week. I like watching some of the newer fighters like Saiman, Rosas and Pimblett.

NOTES:

Mitchell v Topuria: I think Topuria has the edge in striking. He seems more well rounded and his body seems stronger and more solid. Mitchell is good at controlling on the ground and getting TD but did his opponents not have very good TD defense? They seemed to go down without very much resistance. Is it because they are not good at it or is Mitchell just really good at timing it? On the ground he doesn't seem to do very much damamge, but he is good at keeping control. Topuria seems like he won't go down as easily as Mitchell's other opponents. He seems a good wrestler and grappler as well and he has knockout power. But not sure if Mitchell will be able to get Topuria down and control him like he did his other opponents. Topuria Finish only?

Pimblett v Gordon: Looking at the tape Pimblett seems physically stronger, more dynamic and powerful. His defense doesn't seem that great. I think his physicality will win.

Till v Du PLessis: Till powerful, big, low volume, fast striker not great on ground - gets controlled. He seems to be wellr rounded but gets tired wrestling He is a counterstriker. He waits for opponent. Du Plessis seems very reckless and aggressive. I'm not sure why he is the favorite. Maybe people think Till will get tired. Du PLessis has power, but techinque looks kind of awkward. Till has much higher level of opponents. Losing to high level.

Ankalaev v Blachowicz: Ankalaev looks good, faster more volume, precise. Blachowicz seems slower and lower volume. Significant age difference.

Rosas v Perrin: Rosas high speed, offensive grappling, non stop movement, striking not bad.. Perrin well rounded, wrestler, striking ok. He seems decent at wrestling and striking but not super strong at either. I feel like Rosas will have edge in speed, volume, aggressiveness, athleticism. He is probably better grappler. He is so young. He will probably improve exponentially from fight to fight.

Curtis v Buckley: Buckley, speedy athletic and powerful striker, but he misses a lot. Doesn't feint or set up so opponents can evade. He does has some surprise Ko's though. Curtis can sometimes be a sitting duck. He waits for openings and get hit too much. Can be low volume. If he lets buckley hit him a lot, it could be bad, but he seems to be able to take the shots until he finds his own and land the power. Bucklet remind me of Phil Hawes. Maybe the fght will go the same way? He got frustrated by Hermanson's volume and in and out movement.

Quarantillo v Hernandez: Q lots of volume, pressure, cardio, not as powerful. Hernandez good cardio too, not as much volume. but they seem evenly matched. Hernandez is stockier - maybe more power? Hernandez gets overwhelmed by volume. He gets outworked in striking.
